Widen your Perspective

This morning, I opened the patio door just a crack to let our tiny orange tabby, Jasper, back inside. But before he could move, our big gray tabby, Leo appeared—ready to go out.

The two cats froze. One wanted in. One wanted out. The door was too narrow, and neither knew what to do.

So, I opened the door a little wider. And just like that—no hissing, no stand-off. Both cats moved easily toward what they needed.

That simple moment reminded me: when you widen your perspective, life often feels less threatening, and new options appear.

If you’ve been feeling stretched thin or like you’re the only one who can do it all, maybe it’s time to open the door a little wider so you can see more possibilities.

Here are a few gentle ways to start:

  • 🌱 Pause before saying “yes.” Ask yourself if this task truly needs you or if someone else could step in.

  • 🌼 Name what drains you most. Awareness is the first step to making a small, doable change.

  • 🌻 Invite in help—without guilt. Let trusted friends, family, or professionals share the load.

You deserve to breathe, to rest, and to have options. Sometimes all it takes is widening your view to see what’s been there all along.
